CHC52115 Diploma of Community Development.

SLAC offers courses leading to nationally recognised qualifications in Business and Community Services.
For people interested in starting, changing and/or advancing their career to the Community Sector.

CHC52015 Diploma of Community Services (case management)
Deliver, coordinate and manage person-centred services to individuals, groups and communities. Provide
supervision to other workers and volunteers in case management; coordinate existing and develop new service
programs.

Training pathways – Advanced Diploma and/or tertiary studies

Job pathways – Case Worker or Manager, Community Services Worker, Family Support Worker or Coordinator,
Program Coordinator, Group Facilitator/Coordinator.

16 months full-time (56 weeks) or two years flexible studies. Full-time program is approved by Centrelink.

Full -time schedule – two full days per week for face-to-face studies, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Allocate
another day per week for supported learning activities.

Individual training plans will be developed for students undertaking the course part-time, self-paced/on-line
studies and/or Recognition of Prior Learning, or in combination of in any or all of these.

CHC52115 Diploma of Community Development.
Facilitate social action and support. Provide advocacy services. Provide community planning services. Manage
community resources. Improve quality of life and increase people’s skills.

Training pathways – Advanced Diploma and/or tertiary studies

Job pathways – Community Development Officer within the community sector and/or government, Neighbourhood House/Community Centre Manager, Community Projects Manager.

One full year full-time (48 weeks) or two years flexible studies. Full-time program is approved by Centrelink.

Full-time schedule – two full days per week for face-to-face studies, on Mondays and Tuesdays. Allocate another
day per week for supported learning activities.

Individual training plans will be developed for students undertaking the course part-time, self-paced/on-line
studies and/or Recognition of Prior Learning, or in combination of in any or all of these.

Dual Diploma Program – Diploma of Community Development and Community Services is available to eligible
students.

CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services Work
Areas of training:

• advanced communication skills in reading, listening and speaking
• writing skills as per workplace requirements
• conflict prevention, management and de-escalation in complex situations
• dealing with challenging behaviours
• foundations of case management
• support and promote community participation
• work within a community development framework
• develop and maintain networks

40 weeks part-time, one day per week.

CHC44015 Certificate IV in Coordination of Volunteer Programs
This course is available for Recognition of Prior Learning and/or Self-Paced/On-line Studies or Assessment
Only pathway for people currently employed in the community sector and wishing to enhance their career
opportunities in coordination/management roles. Individual training plans will be developed for students
undertaking these courses in any one or a combination of these methods.

Recognition of Prior Learning services provided by SLAC are not subsidised by government for any student.
Recognition of Prior Learning is a full fee service to all students. RPL fees are calculated for each candidate
individually.

For candidates holding relevant nationally recognised qualifications issued by TAFE or another RTO, credit
transfer for one or some units of competency can be granted. There is no fee for credit transfer. In this case,
the fees will be calculated based on the scheduled hours for the remaining units of competency. This will be
determined during enrolment interview when the Assessor will review candidate’s credentials and compare with
the qualification packaging rules.
